Arknights Season 4: Release Window and What’s Coming

So, Arknights: Rise from Ember is over. Ten episodes, one emotional finale, and now we’re left sitting here thinking - okay, what now? If you’ve been following the anime so far, you probably felt that Season 3 tied up a lot of the threads from the Reunion arc. It felt like a proper send-off. But let’s be honest, it also felt like a beginning. The way everything ended... it’s clear we’re not done. Not even close.
Let’s talk about what might be coming next - Season 4.
Season 3 Gave Closure, But Not the Full Picture
Let’s rewind a bit. Season 3 aired from July to early September 2025. It was officially called Rise from Ember, and it wrapped up Act I of the main storyline. Episodes 07 and 08 from the game were covered, along with Darknights Memoir, which honestly deserved more room to breathe.
The production value was solid - music was great, animation sharp - but yeah, it was rushed. That seems to be a bit of a theme with this adaptation. Ten episodes just aren’t enough when you’re dealing with something like Arknights, which is already a deep, lore-heavy universe. A lot of us felt like two more episodes would’ve made a big difference. Just enough room to let the moments sink in.
But all that said, Rise from Ember still delivered some emotional punches. And more importantly - it set the table for what’s next. You can watch the official trailer of Rise from Ember below:
No Official Season 4 Yet… But It’s Looking Likely
As of now, there’s no official announcement for Arknights Season 4. But if you look at the timing of the previous seasons, there’s a bit of a pattern forming. Each new season seems to follow approximately 1.3-year production cycle. If that stays true, we could be looking at a late 2026 to 2027 release. Yuki Watanabe remarked:
‘The beautiful visuals … featuring a combination of movement and stillness, contrasts between light and shadow, and intricate textures, are creating a buzz.’ - Yuki Watanabe, Director
The studio (Yostar Pictures) also released player surveys recently asking what people want to see animated next. That’s a good hint that they’re thinking ahead. Plus, the online chatter after Season 3 was full of people asking for more. There’s a strong appetite for it, no question.
Quick Recap: Where Are We Now in the Story?
If you’re an anime-only viewer or just need a refresher - Arknights is set in Terra, a world scarred by Originium, a mineral that gives people magic-like powers but also causes a deadly disease. The infected are feared and often cast out, which is where the conflict starts.
Rhodes Island, the group we follow, tries to treat Oripathy while also fighting against injustice. Over the first three seasons, they’ve been clashing with Reunion - a movement formed by the infected who are tired of being treated like dirt. The Reunion arc took us through some pretty heartbreaking battles, especially with characters like Talulah and FrostNova.
Now, with Reunion defeated and Rhodes Island moving on, the next chapter shifts away from Lungmen and Chernobog. We’re headed to Victoria - and that’s where things get really messy.
What Season 4 Might Cover (If It Happens)

If Season 4 follows the main story, it’ll begin Act II: Shadow of a Dying Sun. The tone changes a lot here. Less rebellion, more politics. Less city warfare, more royal intrigue. It’s denser, and arguably even more intense.
Here’s what might show up:
- Babel - This is a flashback arc that lays down the foundation for Act II’s major players.
- Stormwatch (Chapter 9) - The first step into Victoria’s chaos, with new characters and fresh threats.
- Kazimierz Arc - Could appear as flashbacks or a side arc. It ties in nicely and is already complete.
- Duke drama - Seriously, the Victorian politics are a maze of betrayals, power plays, and factions.
- Sarkaz tensions - Not everyone from Act I is gone. Some familiar faces might return with new motives.
Act II brings in a lot of characters, and it doesn’t always explain things clearly. Even longtime players have said they needed guides just to keep up. That’s something the anime team will have to deal with.
Adapting Act II Won’t Be Easy

If the studio sticks to the ten-episode format again, they’ll run into trouble. This part of the story is too packed. You’ve got nobles, military leaders, rogue factions, ancient grudges, and a looming civil war. It’s a lot to squeeze in without confusing viewers.
Many people are hoping for something different this time. Director Watanabe stated:
‘It was created with the player’s gaming experience in mind, where they take their time to digest each piece of information.’ - Yuki Watanabe, Director
Maybe a longer season, or even two seasons to cover Act II properly. There’s also a ton of support for OVAs - especially for stories like Maria Nearl, Near Light, Vigilo, or even Where the Firelight Casts. These arcs would make great side content that helps connect the dots.
Some folks even think the anime should just break away from the game for a bit and do an original storyline. Same world, same characters - but with a tighter, more anime-friendly plot. That way they don’t have to race through every chapter or skip important scenes.
Fans Know What They Want - and It’s Not Rushed Pacing

A big part of the Season 3 discussion was about pacing. People loved the direction the story took, but they hated how fast it flew by. Moments that should’ve landed hard barely had time to hit. The fear now is that the same thing will happen in Act II, where the stakes are even higher.
The consensus seems to be: take your time. The Victoria arc is rich with material. It has some of the game’s most iconic scenes - Logos fighting the Souls of Sarkaz, the Sanguinarch’s appearance, and all the behind-the-scenes political plotting. But none of that will matter if the anime rushes through it.
Final Thoughts
Right now, Arknights is in a good place. It’s already had three solid seasons, and fans are still engaged. There’s a real opportunity here to keep building on that momentum - but only if the next chapter gets the space it needs.
Whether that means a full Season 4, a movie, or a handful of OVAs, it feels like we’re just getting started. Victoria awaits, and so does a story full of war, betrayal, and everything we love (and fear) about Terra.
