After two strong seasons, Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) has earned its place as one of the most atmospheric and unique anime of the past few years. With Season 2 now reaching its finale, fans are already wondering what comes next. Will we get a third season, and if so, what parts of the manga will it cover? Let’s go over where the story stands now, when season 2 ends, and what season 3 could bring to the table.

A Quick Look Back at Season 1 And 2

The story began in 2022 with Season 1, which ran for 13 episodes. It followed Kou Yamori, a boy who slipped away from the ordinary routines of school and daytime life, and into the quiet, neon-lit nights where he met Nazuna. Their relationship - part friendship, part romance, part supernatural bond - quickly pulled viewers in. The show balanced comedy, mystery, and a moody sense of freedom that made it stand out. In a recent English-dub cast interview, Natalie Rial (Nazuna) said:

“I think a lot of people can relate to Nazuna. While this show is silly and funny and goofy … these characters are very real.”Natalie Rial

Season 2 came three years later, premiering in July 2025. Once again streaming on HIDIVE, it carried forward Kou’s determination to become a vampire. But to succeed, Nazuna must genuinely fall in love with him within a year. This season raised the stakes with stronger emotional beats and the constant threat of vampire hunters closing in. 11 episodes are already out, with one final episode to go.

The 12th and final episode of Season 2 is scheduled for September 19, 2025, airing at 9:00 a.m. PDT (12:00 p.m. EDT) on HIDIVE. It will first stream with subtitles, while the dubbed version will arrive later.

Expect this closing chapter to tie up the current arc but also leave questions hanging in the air. Kou’s struggle with his half-vampire state, Nazuna’s conflicted feelings, and the hunters who threaten their world are all threads that could come to a boiling point. Rather than ending cleanly, it feels more like the setup for an even bigger continuation.

What Season 3 Would Likely Cover?

If the anime moves into a third season, it will enter the manga’s final stretch. Here’s what viewers can look forward to if those chapters are adapted:

  1. Kou’s half-vampire identity - Kou’s transformation isn’t simple. He faces battles both within himself and against other vampires as he tries to figure out who he’s becoming.
  2. Kiku’s role as a major antagonist - Kiku steps into the spotlight, creating some of the most intense conflicts in the series. Her unpredictable nature forces Kou into difficult choices.
  3. Escalating human-vampire tension - Anko and the hunters continue pressing forward, which only raises the danger for Kou, Nazuna, and the other vampires who are still clinging to their own secrets.
  4. Love, identity, and closure - At its core, the final arc is about whether Kou and Nazuna can hold on to each other through everything. The romance deepens, but it’s tested by fear, doubt, and the reality of their choices.

The manga’s ending received mixed reactions. Some felt it cut off too quickly, while others thought it was the perfect way to finish. Because of that, there’s a chance the anime could expand certain moments or adjust pacing to make the finale land more smoothly.

When Could Season 3 Arrive?

If the release pattern holds, Season 1 was in summer 2022 and Season 2 in summer 2025. That points to summer 2028 as the most likely window for Season 3. Still, strong performance on HIDIVE, could speed things up.

Since the show airs in Japan on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block, which is home to a lot of big-name anime, it clearly has support. Since there’s no renewal yet, a third season is possible but unconfirmed.

Why People Want Season 3 So Badly?

Fans agree that Call of the Night has a special atmosphere. Even people who thought the manga lost steam near the end admit that the anime’s style and pacing could lift those chapters higher. Many saw the detective arc with Anko as the series’ peak, and they’re excited to see if the studio can give the ending more weight on screen.

There’s also an appetite for closure. Kou and Nazuna’s relationship has been building across two seasons, and a third would finally answer the question of whether their love can truly survive. For longtime followers, not seeing that play out would feel incomplete.

Where To Stream and More Anime to Check Out

Both seasons of Call of the Night are available now on HIDIVE. If you haven’t seen the official Season 2 trailer, it’s a great way to preview the mood and energy this series brings.

Final Thoughts

There’s no official renewal for Season 3 yet. The series has room to continue, but we’ll have to wait for an announcement. With Season 2 wrapping up soon and plenty of manga material left, the series is primed for one more run. Whether the anime sticks exactly to the original ending or tweaks it for a smoother finish, the story of Kou and Nazuna isn’t done yet.

Until then, fans can look forward to one last episode in Season 2 - and keep dreaming of what’s still waiting under the glow of the night sky.
