So, this happened fast. MarriageToxin (Marijji Tokishin) just wrapped up its first season, and literally the second episode 13 ended, Season 2 got confirmed. No waiting around, no "stay tuned" nonsense. If you've been sleeping on this show, honestly, now's your chance to catch up before everyone else is talking about it again in a few months.

Six months. That's basically how long we're waiting until this thing comes back. Which, in anime years, is basically nothing.

When Is It Actually Coming Back

January 2027. Mark it down somewhere you'll actually remember.

Here's the thing that's kind of wild about this though: most shows take a year, sometimes two, to come back with a new season. Studios usually play it safe. MarriageToxin coming back in six months tells you the people behind it were clearly already deep into production before Season 1 even finished airing. And the creator himself seems just as pumped about it as anyone. Joumyaku, the story writer behind the whole series, said in an official press release:

"Thanks to the anime staff, who make the original work 1000% more amazing, and the voice cast, who breathe life into the characters with their incredible performances, I can't wait to see Gero, Kinosaki, and the rest of the gang again!!" – Joumyaku

And honestly, with 17 volumes of manga already out there and the anime barely scratching the surface (it only got through the Beast Master arc), there's no excuse to run out of material anytime soon.

Quick Catch Up If You Forgot What Happened

For anyone who watched this months ago and needs their memory jogged: Gero is an assassin. Not just any assassin, he's the heir to this whole clan of poison-based killers. His family basically tells him "marry someone and have an heir, or we're forcing your sister to do it instead." So obviously he's not about to let that happen to his sister, and he decides he'll be the one to get married.

Problem is, the guy has never dated anyone in his life. Enter Mei Kinosaki, a con artist who scams people through fake marriages, who Gero was actually supposed to be hunting down as a job. Instead, they end up teaming up, with Mei coaching him through the disaster that is his love life. It sounds like a weird setup on paper but the chemistry between these two ended up being the whole reason people fell for this show.

What's Probably Coming in Season 2

The manga's way ahead of the anime, so there's a lot to pull from. Based on where things left off, here's roughly what we're looking at

  1. Tonako gets introduced properly. She only had like two minutes of screen time in the finale and people are already obsessed
  2. Kimie's arc continues since she confessed to Gero but said she's not ready yet, so there's clearly more there
  3. Whatever is going on with Teruaki and why he's suddenly interested in Mei, because that ending scene left a lot of questions
  4. More of Gero's sister Akari, who barely got any screen time this season despite being the reason the whole plot kicked off
  5. And obviously, more Gero and Mei, because let's be real that's what everyone actually tuned in for

There's a short announcement video that dropped alongside the news too, worth watching if you want a tiny preview of what's ahead.

What People Are Actually Saying About It

The reaction has been pretty much all positive, which isn't something you see all the time with anime announcements. A lot of people admit they almost skipped this show entirely and only ended up watching because of word of mouth, then got completely hooked once they gave it a shot.

What's interesting is how much people are actually invested in who Gero ends up with. There's a real divide happening. A good chunk of viewers are convinced Mei is endgame just based on how naturally the two of them play off each other, while others are firmly team Arashiyama after that confession scene hit way harder than expected. There's also a decent number of people saying the show works best when it slows down and focuses on the characters instead of the fight scenes, and hoping Season 2 leans into that a bit more instead of going overboard with action like some of the later Season 1 episodes did.

Why This Is Actually Good News

The fact that this got greenlit so quickly says a lot. The whole main team is sticking around too, Motonobu Hori is back directing, Kohei Tokuoka is still doing character designs, so the show should look and feel exactly like it did before, just hopefully tighter. And manga artist Mizuki Yoda, who draws the series, was clearly thrilled about the new season too, saying in the same official announcement:

"Season 2 brings on more and more of my favorite characters, so I'd be thrilled if you looked forward to it!" - Mizuki Yoda

If you're into keeping up with what's coming next, we've also got writeups on Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 3 and Witch Hat Atelier Season 2 worth checking out. But for now, January 2027 is the date to remember, and if the manga is anything to go by, Season 2 might end up being even better than the first.

Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King Season 2 Buzz

Season 1 of The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King (Hime Kishi wa Barbaroi no Yome) just wrapped up, and honestly, the ending left a lot of us sitting there like "wait, that's it?" Between the dragon reveal and that gut-punch of a final scene with the king, it's pretty clear this story isn't done. So naturally, everyone's asking the same question now: is Season 2 actually happening, and when.

When Is Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku Getting a Season 2?

If you've spent any time in anime Twitter or Reddit threads over the past few weeks, you already know that Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? (Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?) wrapped up its first season and left basically everyone a little wrecked in the best way. It came out of nowhere this spring, quietly became one of the shows people wouldn't stop talking about, and then ended on a note that's still generating discourse. So naturally, the question on everyone's mind is: where's season 2?
