What Season 2 Will Bring to the Table?

Season 1 covered the story from chapters 1 to 39 of the manga. However, several fan-favorite scenes and characters were skipped over, especially Usami, a charming fabric store clerk introduced in Chapter 24, who never made it into the anime adaptation. But with the second season starting from Chapter 40, there’s a good chance these skipped moments might finally get their time in the spotlight.

Expect the story to kick off with the continuation of Marin and Gojo’s deepening relationship, along with a deeper dive into their personal goals and cosplay projects. This season is likely to follow the Shizuku Kuroe Part 2 Arc and go as far as the Coffin Arc, based on the manga’s pacing. That means more cosplay challenges, more heartwarming romance, and plenty of moments that will leave fans swooning.

The anime's studio, CloverWorks, is back with the same creative team. Keisuke Shinohara returns as director and Yoriko Tomita resumes her role as head writer. Meanwhile, Hina Suguta and Shoya Ishige are reprising their roles as Marin and Gojo, bringing back the same chemistry that made Season 1 so beloved.

Season 2 Is Not the End Yet

Even though the manga wrapped up recently with 115 chapters spread across 14 volumes, Season 2 is not expected to be the final installment. If this new season covers chapters 40 through the Coffin Arc (around chapter 85), that still leaves The Mandate of Heaven Arc untouched, which runs from chapters 86 to 108.

But here’s where things get interesting. That final arc may not have enough content for a full 12-episode season. So, what’s the plan? Some fans believe that the creators might either save the last arc for a third season or even turn it into a theatrical movie adaptation, giving the emotional conclusion the spotlight it deserves. There’s been no official announcement yet, but the studio hasn’t hinted at this being the final season either.

Behind the Scenes and Fan Expectations

The manga’s ending left fans feeling a bit conflicted. Many thought it felt rushed, likely due to the author's health-related breaks over the years. Still, the story’s emotional core remained strong until the very end, and the anime adaptation now has the opportunity to polish up the pacing and character development in ways that the manga couldn’t explore fully.

One key aspect fans are hoping for is the inclusion of the moments and characters missed in Season 1. Since Season 2 has more source material to work with and a fanbase hungry for depth and emotion, there’s a lot of hope that this installment will bring out the best of the manga’s storytelling.

The Final Stitch

Season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling isn’t just a return, it’s a celebration of everything fans loved in the first season and more. With its July 5, 2025 premiere, returning voice cast, and creative team, this season promises heartfelt moments, fun cosplay adventures, and even more romance between Marin and Gojo. Whether you're here for the emotional growth, the cosplay creations, or the chemistry between our two leads, this season is shaping up to be a must-watch.

So, get ready to hit play on July 5 and fall in love all over again.
