So, you have been watching Amane and Mahiru slowly figure out this whole relationship thing, and now you are sitting here wondering if there is going to be a Season 3. Honestly, same. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsu no Ma ni ka Dame-Ningen ni Sareteita Ken) has built up quite the fanbase over the last couple of years, and with Season 2 still airing, the conversation around what comes next is already heating up. Here is everything worth knowing right now.

Season 2 Has Been One Big Rollercoaster of Sweetness

If Season 1 was about two neighbors slowly falling for each other, Season 2 is basically what happens after the credits roll on a confession scene. Amane and Mahiru are officially together now, and the season has been following them through all the awkward, sweet, and sometimes hilarious moments that come with being a new couple. There have been lap pillows, study sessions, and some surprisingly bold moments from Mahiru that genuinely caught people off guard.

The cultural festival arc has been a highlight, with the maid cafe setup giving the show some fun new energy. Itsuki and Chitose as the side couple have also been keeping things interesting, especially with hints of a bigger conflict involving Itsuki's father coming down the line. It all ties back to what makes this story so quietly compelling, and the light novel really captures it well. As the author Saekisan wrote in Volume 3,

"Even when we're not talking, I feel comfortable when I'm by your side, and I think that's wonderful."Saekisan, Author

You can watch all of this unfold over on Crunchyroll if you have not caught up yet.

So, When Is Season 3 Actually Happening

Here is the thing. Nothing official has been announced yet, but looking at the pattern of the releases gives a pretty decent clue. Season 1 came out in Winter 2023 and Season 2 landed in Spring 2026. That is roughly a two-year gap between the two. If the studio sticks to something similar, then Season 3 could realistically show up sometime around 2027, maybe as a Winter or Spring title again. And given how much story is still left to tell, there is real reason to be excited. As Saekisan wrote in Volume 4 of the light novel,

"From now on, they could never be strangers again" - Saekisan, Author

The light novel is still being written too, which matters a lot here. The author has made it clear she wants to keep the story going for a long time, so there is no shortage of material to adapt. That is a good sign for anyone hoping the anime does not just quietly disappear after Season 2 wraps. While you wait, you might also want to check out our recent pieces on Chained Soldier Season 3 and To Your Eternity Season 4 for more release speculation on other fan favorite series.

What Season 3 Could Actually Cover

The light novels give a pretty clear road map for where the story is going next. Based on what has been set up so far, here is what Season 3 will most likely dig into:

  1. Mahiru's family drama finally coming to a head, since her complicated home situation has been hanging over the story since the very beginning
  2. Amane and Mahiru moving their relationship forward in a more serious and meaningful way beyond where Season 2 leaves off
  3. Itsuki dealing with pressure from his father, which was teased at the end of a recent episode and feels like it is going to be a bigger deal
  4. Graduation and future plans for the main couple, which brings in some real emotional stakes as high school starts winding down
  5. Koyuki, the housekeeper who essentially raised Mahiru, potentially stepping back into the picture as things get more serious between the two leads

How Fans Are Feeling About a Third Season

This is where it gets interesting. The fanbase is genuinely split right now, and that makes the anticipation for Season 3 feel different compared to how people felt going into Season 2. A chunk of viewers have found Season 2 a little too repetitive, feeling like each episode follows the same rhythm of flirting, blushing, and pulling back without much else happening. The concern is that Amane and Mahiru have lost some of the individual personality that made them fun to watch in the first place.

But there is also a very vocal group who think this slow, warm approach is exactly the point and are perfectly happy watching these two be genuinely happy together for once. Most people on both sides seem to agree on one thing though. Mahiru's family storyline is the arc that could make Season 3 feel genuinely gripping, and it is the part of the light novel that fans are most excited to eventually see animated. Check out the Season 2 trailer below to see where things stand heading into all of this.

Why Season 3 Still Has a Lot of People Excited

Whatever side of the debate you fall on, there is no denying that this series has people talking. The relationship between Amane and Mahiru is heading somewhere with real emotional weight, and Season 3 is where a lot of that payoff is expected to land. The family conflict, the growing maturity between the two leads, and the bigger life decisions on the horizon all point to a season that could feel meaningfully different from what came before. Fans are watching, waiting, and very much hoping the announcement comes sooner rather than later.
