So, is there going to be a Polar Opposites Season 3? That's the question on everyone's mind right now. You and I Are Polar Opposites (Seihantai na Kimi to Boku) is about to close out its second season, and honestly, nobody feels ready to say goodbye. Here's what's actually known about the Season 3 and what could come next.

Is Polar Opposites Season 3 Actually Happening?

Short answer, not yet. Nothing has been announced, and the way things look, it might never be. Both seasons are being treated as the full adaptation, so the studio has pretty much run out of story to tell.

The manga is only 8 volumes long, and the anime has been moving at about three episodes per volume. Do the math and there's barely enough left for a couple of episodes. A whole new season just doesn't add up.

When Could Season 3 Come Out?

There's no official word, so this is all educated guessing. Season 2 showed up around six months after Season 1, and it wraps on October 4, 2026. If anything got the green light, 2027 feels like the safest bet, and it would probably be an OVA or a special instead of a proper season.

Keep an eye on Crunchyroll, where the show streams, once the finale airs. Big news often lands right after the last episode. Renewal talk can flip fast too, as our recent articles on Re Zero Season 5 and Trapped in a Dating Sim Season 3 show.

Where Season 2 Left Off

Season 2 kicked off with a sweet Christmas date for Miyu and Yuusuke. Their kiss attempts ended in bumped teeth and Miyu's brother barging in, which was awkward in the most believable way. Yamada and Nishi kept dancing around their feelings, and Taira slowly started dealing with his painful past.

Then the story jumped to the final school year. Tani worked himself to the bone for entrance exams, Miyu figured out how to be his shoulder to lean on, and the class threw a snack party that felt like a goodbye. Episode 12 gave viewers a teary graduation, a running joke revealing that the audience was Gapacho all along, and a big moment between Taira and Azuma.

Episode 13 Release Schedule

Only one episode is left, so mark your calendar.

  1. Episode 12 aired on September 27, 2026 after a delay from September 20
  2. Episode 13, the finale, airs on October 4, 2026

It lands right after the first episode of The Ramparts of Ice Season 2, so it's a huge week for anyone who loves this author's work.

What the Final Episode Could Show

Most viewers expect an epilogue about life after high school, maybe with a time skip. People also hope Taira and Azuma get a clearer answer after that hand grab and his question about seeing each other again. Shogo Sakata, the voice actor of Tani, hinted at the emotional weight waiting in the ending during the same interview:

"When I read the final volume of the manga myself, I thought I was going to cry. There's that feeling of loneliness once you finish reading, but also warmth." - Shogo Sakata, VA of Tani

Graduation already felt like an ending, so the finale may keep things calm and happy. Watch the official Season 2 latest trailer below to get back in the mood before it airs.

What Polar Opposites Season 3 Could Cover

The main story is done, so a Season 3 or special would lean on the manga's final chapters and a few fresh ideas. If it ever happened, this is where it would most likely go.

  1. The manga epilogue could be stretched into a full special, showing the cast years after graduation and whether those school friendships lasted.
  2. College life would give every couple new schools, new people, and packed schedules, which feels like the natural next step after all those entrance exams.
  3. Long distance love is the big question for Miyu and Tani. Tani looked exhausted while chasing his goals, and the two will see each other far less.
  4. Taira and Azuma could finally get the slow burn payoff so many viewers want, now that Taira is more confident and ready to reach out.
  5. Yamada and Nishi could show what life looks like as an official couple, with all the shy, clumsy moments they're famous for.
  6. Side stories could spotlight Honda, the ultimate wingwoman, along with Nabe and Sato, who have plenty of people asking for more.

Since the manga is already fully adapted, most of this would be brand new material. That's why an OVA or a short movie seems far more realistic than a full season.

What Fans Think About Season 3

The mood is a mix of sadness and hope. A lot of viewers would love to see the college years, and Taira and Azuma have become such a favorite that they even trended in Japan after episode 12. Others think the open ending is perfect and enjoy imagining the future themselves. Sayumi Suzushiro, who voices Suzuki, described the show's heart perfectly in an Anime Corner interview:

"It conveys the personalities and dynamics of polarities that characters hold in general that you wouldn't know from looking at them at first glance." - Sayumi Suzushiro, VA of Suzuki

Some are already dreaming about the author starting a new series, maybe with a Honda style lead or a crossover with The Ramparts of Ice. Either way, most agree this show gave everyone a warm, healthy romcom worth remembering.
