The side characters ended up stealing hearts too honestly. Kanade Gujo and Chang Chin-lan's relationship became a favorite for a lot of viewers, and Chitose and Ryoko’s married-couple energy never got old even though they didn't get much screen time. By the last episode, Botan and Ibuki pierced each other's ears as a sweet, low-key way of saying they're official, while Gujo and Chin Lan swapped Christmas gifts that basically confirmed they're a couple now too. It felt like a full ending, but also like there's clearly more story left to tell.

Okay But When Is Season 2 Actually Coming Out

Nothing's been confirmed yet, so take this with a grain of salt. Season 1 ran weekly for about three months, and studios usually need a solid year or more to put together a follow up, especially one where every single episode had its own distinct art style and director. Going off how these things normally play out for original anime with decent buzz, a realistic guess would be late 2027 or maybe early 2028 if the studio gets the green light soon.

Here's the thing though, there's definitely enough story to work with. The manga by HEY is still running and sits somewhere around 70 chapters, and the anime only covered about 37 of them. So, this isn't a situation where they'd need to pad things out with filler, there's already plenty of material sitting there ready to go. What Might Actually Happen in Season 2

4. A closer look at Ibuki's relationship with drinking, since some viewers felt the show never quite addressed how much she leans on it
