Hell's Paradise Season 2 Episode 5 Drops This Weekend

(Image credit: ©Studio MAPPA | Crunchyroll)
The epic return of Hell's Paradise (Jigokuraku) continues to grab attention as Season 2 reaches its midpoint. With only three days left until Episode 5 arrives, fans are getting hyped for what looks like another wild ride in Gabimaru's bloody hunt for the Elixir of Life. The show has been throwing everything at us since January, and honestly, the next episode might be the most intense one yet.
Just a Few Days Until Episode 5
Hell's Paradise Season 2 Episode 5 comes out this Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 7:15 AM PT or 10:15 AM ET. You can watch it on Crunchyroll, which will simulcast the series in many regions; Netflix and Prime Video may carry Season 2 in some territories, but availability differs by region. Every Sunday at the same time, so it's pretty easy to keep up with.
Last episode was absolutely nuts. We got introduced to Shugen, who honestly might be scarier than the actual monsters on the island. This guy takes his idea of justice way too far, like killing entire families just because one person did something wrong. And then there's the whole ninja squad that showed up specifically to hunt down Gabimaru. One of them literally stabbed himself in the throat just to prove how loyal they are. Things are getting messy, and that's putting it lightly.
What's Coming in the Next Episode

Episode 5 should dig deeper into the brewing conflict between Gabimaru's crew and the new arrivals. Sagiri's situation is getting awkward since Shugen was apparently her first crush, but now she's seeing what kind of person he really is. Not exactly the reunion anyone was hoping for. Shion never trusted these reinforcements from the start, and it's looking like he was right to be suspicious.
Those ninjas are a whole other problem. There's like 50 of them, all brainwashed into following orders without question, and their main job is taking out Gabimaru. The fact that the main group decided to stay together even though they technically don't have to says a lot. They know splitting up would be suicide at this point. Speaking of other great anime, we've been covering some amazing shows lately, so definitely check out our breakdown of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 7 and what's happening with One Punch Man Season 4.

The New Characters Are Actually Interesting

The fresh batch of executioners brought some cool personalities to the mix. Isuzu is probably the most surprising because she looks super intimidating but acts sweet and shy. Then there's Kiyomaru, this cocky kid who actually has the skills to back up his attitude. His fighting style where he spins around like crazy looks awesome and reminds people of other popular anime characters. Yuzuriha's philosophy perfectly captures the show's survival theme when she says,
"Shinobi are realists. We learn to tell the difference between pain you gotta get past and pointless suffering." - Yuzuriha
Jikka might be the most interesting one though. He just wants to go home and seems chill about everything, but something feels off. He can't fully draw his sword for some reason, and even the ninja leader admitted she couldn't figure him out. That's weird, right? A guy who survived the island once before and nobody can read him. There's definitely more to his story that we haven't seen yet.
MAPPA Keeps Raising the Bar
MAPPA Studios is doing amazing work on this season. The fight scenes hit hard and look brutal in all the right ways, just like Season 1 but somehow even better. They're handling all these new character designs and fighting styles without dropping quality at all. With seven more episodes to go in this 12-episode season, we're getting closer to what should be an explosive finale on March 29, 2026. If they keep this momentum going, Season 2 might end up being even better than the first one.

A Star Brighter Than the Sun Season 2 Gets the Green Light
Great news for romance anime lovers! A Star Brighter Than the Sun Season 2 has got confirmed, and honestly, nobody saw this coming so fast. The announcement dropped right after the first season ended in December 2025, which is pretty wild considering how rare it is for shoujo anime to get 2 seasons these days. The show is based on Kazune Kawahara's manga Taiyou yori mo Mabushii Hoshi, and it's basically about two childhood friends who are totally in love but too awkward to admit it. Kawahara even drew a cute illustration to celebrate, showing Sae and Koki standing in front of a chalkboard that says "Season 2 Confirmed!!" with little stars all around it.
