So, it's actually happening. I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too (the Japanese title is Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa) is officially getting a second season. Honestly, not everyone saw this coming. The show has always been a divisive one - some people love it, some people roll their eyes at it - but clearly enough people watched it to make Season 2 a reality. And now that it's confirmed, there's a lot to talk about.
The Announcement Nobody Quite Expected
The Season 2 news came out of AnimeJapan 2026, which is honestly a pretty big stage for a show that gets as much mixed reception as this one does. Along with the announcement, a teaser visual was dropped, giving fans something to look at while they process the news. The timing was intentional too - the announcement landed right before the franchise's TV special premiered in Japan, with the special releasing on Fuji on Demand and the FOD Channel for Prime Video on March 29, then airing on television on March 30. Crunchyroll made it available for international viewers not long after.

One thing worth noting is that no official release date for Season 2 was shared. Just the confirmation that it's in production. Original author Miku shared his feelings on the news, saying,
"A new announcement has been made. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens. We hope that you will continue to watch over the 'Iseleve' series warmly." - Miku, original author
Based on how long anime typically takes to produce - usually somewhere between one and one and a half years - a realistic guess puts Season 2 arriving sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. Nothing is set in stone, but that window makes sense. Make sure to check out the announcement teaser for Season 2 down below!
A Quick Recap of Season 1 for New Viewers
If you never caught the first season, here is the short version. The story is about Yuya Tenjo, a middle school student who basically has nothing going for him. He gets bullied constantly, his family treats him terribly, and life is just rough. Then his grandfather dies, leaves him the house, and Yuya stumbles across a mysterious door inside that opens into a full-on fantasy world. That world gives him insane abilities, rare items, and somehow even changes how he looks - and all of that carries back over into his real life too.
The first season ran 13 episodes, adapting the opening volumes of the original light novel series written by Miku and illustrated by Rein Kuwashima. Studio Millepensee produced it, and it streamed on Crunchyroll with an English dub available as well. The franchise has racked up 4 million copies in circulation including spinoffs, so there is clearly a solid audience for this story.
What Season 2 Will Probably Cover

Going by the TV special and what the light novels get into after Season 1's events, here is what viewers can likely expect from Season 2:
- Yuya dealing with villain factions who are now fully aware of who he is and want him gone
- Back-and-forth between the real world and the fantasy world, with the stakes feeling much higher on both sides
- Yuti settling further into daily life with Yuya while her backstory gets more attention
- The Vile force that briefly took hold of Yuya and what it means for his powers going forward
- New abilities, item drops, and the kind of over-the-top power progression the series is known for
- Wilder story directions pulled from the light novels, which reportedly go into some genuinely unexpected places as the series continues
The Same Team Is Coming Back

For anyone wondering whether the show's look and feel will stay consistent, the returning production team should be reassuring. The excitement around the continuation has been there from the creative side too. Original illustrator Rein Kuwashima said it best when the new project was announced:
"Congratulations on the start of a brand-new anime production! As a fan, I'm thrilled and eager to see Yuya-kun and the others once more on the screen! We appreciate your ongoing assistance with 'Iseleve'!" - Rein Kuwashima, original illustrator
Director Shin Itagaki, who handled the TV special as well, is expected back for Season 2. Character designer Hiromi Kimura and planning company UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS are also returning. That is good news because the show's distinct visual style - bright, almost illustration-like in quality - is a big part of its identity.
The voice cast is returning too. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is back as Yuya, Akari Kito returns as Kaori, and the full main cast from Season 1 is expected. New additions from the special, including Marina Inoue and Shigeru Chiba, could very well carry into the main season as well.
How Fans Are Actually Feeling About This

Reactions have been all over the place, which is pretty on-brand for this show. A lot of viewers are just genuinely happy to have it back - it is the kind of anime that does not demand much from you and is easy to enjoy after a long day. The dual-world concept, where Yuya is not stuck in the fantasy world but actually travels between both, keeps things feeling a little different from the usual isekai setup.
At the same time, some viewers are hoping Season 2 gives Yuya a bit more actual character development. The dense-protagonist thing has been a running frustration, and there is a real curiosity about whether the story starts pushing him forward in a more meaningful way. Either way, Cheat Skill Season 2 is coming, and whether you are a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, there is no denying this show knows how to keep people talking.
