So, there's a new Chinese drama taking over everyone's watchlist right now, and honestly, it deserves the hype. Irreplaceable (无可替代) landed on Netflix on September 28, 2026, and if you're even a little into workplace dramas that don't skimp on emotional stakes, this one's worth your time. Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun lead the cast, and together they've turned a corporate melodrama into something people actually can't stop talking about online.

What's The Story Even About

Here's the thing about Xu Chi, the main character. Her mom died by suicide after a messy divorce, and watching that happen basically rewired how she sees the world. She decides then and there that she'll never let herself become someone who's easy to toss aside or swap out for someone "better." So even though she only went to an average university, not some fancy elite school, she claws her way into corporate consulting through sheer stubbornness and quick thinking.

That's where Ye Xinzhi comes in. He's this polished, elite partner at the firm who got framed by his own boss earlier in his career, and he's been quietly plotting how to make things right ever since. He pulls Xu Chi in as his assistant, mentors her, and somewhere along the way their professional relationship starts turning into something else. It's not instant sparks either, it builds slowly, through late nights, awkward moments, and a lot of unspoken tension that fans have been dissecting scene by scene.

Who's Actually in This Thing

Zhao Jinmai plays Xu Chi, and if her name sounds familiar it's probably because of Reset or Shine on Me. She brings this interesting mix to the role, soft on the surface but genuinely sharp underneath, which makes Xu Chi feel like a real person instead of just another plucky heroine archetype. Wei Daxun plays Ye Xinzhi opposite her, and that bar scene in episode two? People haven't shut up about it since it aired.

The side cast carries a lot of weight too, honestly maybe more than you'd expect. Michelle Bai plays Lin Long, Xu Chi's pregnant mentor who spends most of the early episodes terrified she'll lose her position while she's out on maternity leave. Zhou Qi plays Zhao Heng, and Hu Yixuan plays Bu Tianna, a coworker whose friendship with Xu Chi gets complicated fast. If you want a taste of the tone before committing, the official trailer is down below and gives a solid preview of how fast paced this show actually moves.

When Are the New Episodes Dropping

This is the part everyone keeps asking about, so here's what's confirmed as of now. There are 20 episodes total, and Netflix has been releasing them in a mix of batches and daily drops.

  1. Episodes 1 through 3 dropped September 28, 2026
  2. Episodes 4 and 5 came out September 29, 2026
  3. Episodes 6 and 7 released September 30, 2026
  4. Episode 8 dropped October 1, 2026
  5. Episode 9 arrived October 2, 2026
  6. Episode 10 is releasing today, October 3, 2026
  7. From here it's basically one new episode a day until the finale on October 13

Over in China the drama's also airing on CCTV8 around 10:20pm local time, plus it streams on Youku, which usually gets episodes out slightly earlier than everyone else.

Why People Keep Bringing This Show Up

What's hooking viewers isn't just the romance, honestly. It's watching Xu Chi actually be good at her job. She catches mistakes other people miss, she doesn't fold under pressure in client meetings, and she earns every win instead of having things handed to her. A lot of people have pointed out it scratches a similar itch to Fake It Till You Make It, that blend of realistic office grind with just enough drama to keep it interesting.

Lin Long's storyline has struck a nerve too. Her fear of being quietly replaced while on leave hits closer to home for a lot of viewers than you'd think from a side character. And yeah, the age gap between the leads has people going back and forth in the comments, but most agree the connection between Xu Chi and Ye Xinzhi grows out of actual respect rather than forced chemistry. You can catch everything that's out so far on Netflix, with fresh episodes rolling out basically every day until the finale wraps things up.
