The Final Score Begins to Tilt

Record of Ragnarok is based on the manga by Shinya Umemura, Takumi Fukui, and Azychika, and it tells the story of humanity’s last chance to survive. With the gods deciding to wipe out humankind, the Valkyries propose the ultimate solution: a series of one-on-one fights between powerful gods and the greatest humans from history. The fate of the world rests on these battles.

In total, there are 13 duels to decide humanity’s fate. As of the end of Season 2, the scoreboard was tied at 3-3. That balance is about to be shattered.

Season 3 will kick off with the 7th match, a legendary clash between Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, and Hades, the god of the underworld. This is the match that will break the tie. Following this, expect to witness Nikola Tesla vs Beelzebub and Leonidas vs Apollo, battles that are guaranteed to be as intense as they are heartbreaking.

A Darker Turn for Humanity’s Hope

Unlike the uplifting victories of previous seasons, Season 3 is set to shift gears emotionally. While Qin Shi Huang takes down Hades, the following fights spell trouble for humanity. Tesla loses to Beelzebub, and Leonidas is defeated by Apollo, pushing humanity into dangerous territory. If the gods win just two more battles, it’s all over.

This twist adds a darker, more dramatic tone to the story. It’s no longer just about survival, it’s about the emotional weight of defeat, sacrifice, and the desperation to win back hope. What makes this season even more engaging is the direction the show is taking with its tone. The creators are not shying away from loss and vulnerability. Instead, they’re leaning into it to make the battles feel more real and grounded.

The Team Behind the Fight Scenes

There’s good news when it comes to animation quality. Let’s be honest! Season 1 didn’t exactly blow fans away. Many felt it resembled a slideshow more than an action anime. However, Season 2 saw a noticeable improvement, and Season 3 seems to be continuing that upward trend.

Taking the reins as director is Koichi Hatsumi, known for his work on Tokyo Revengers, while the script is being handled by Yasuyuki Mutō, who worked on Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash and Afro Samurai. Character designs will be crafted by Youko Tanabe and Hisashi Kawashima, while the powerful score is being composed by Yasuharu Takanashi, the same genius behind Naruto and Fairy Tail.

The animation is being produced by Yumeta Company in collaboration with MARU Animation. With this stacked team, there’s real hope that Season 3 will finally do justice to the fast-paced and beautifully illustrated fights of the manga.

Big Questions That Keep Fans Hooked

There are so many things fans are excited and nervous to see in this new season. For example, how will Tesla’s electrifying techniques be animated? His battle with Beelzebub is one of the most creative in the manga, filled with wild tech, brainpower, and emotion. Then there’s the legendary face-off between Leonidas and Apollo, one of the most emotionally intense duels yet.

And for those who’ve read the manga, Okita Soji vs Susano'o no Mikoto is just over the horizon, hinting what might be one of the most unpredictable matches so far.

This season is not just about strength: it’s about emotion, tactics, and the soul of each fighter. Fans are also eager to see how the anime will handle character development and backstory. Past seasons gave us deep dives into each fighter’s past, from Jack the Ripper to Buddha, and Season 3 promises to continue that trend.

A Season Carried by Passion and Fans

What makes Record of Ragnarok truly shine is not just the epic scale of the fights, but the passion behind the project from both creators and fans. Takumi Fukui, one of the manga’s original creators, expressed his excitement about finally bringing these next matches to the screen. He’s especially hyped to see how “that technique and that scene” will be animated, no doubt referring to one of Tesla’s game-changing moments.

The show has ranked in Netflix’s Top 10 across 84 countries, showing just how massive the global fanbase is. Despite the rough start in Season 1, the support has never faded, in fact, it’s only grown.

Is Season 3 Worth the Hype?

Absolutely! While the release date is still a mystery, the teaser trailer and updated staff info are clear signs that something big is coming. If the animation delivers and the pacing holds steady, this could be the best season yet.

Record of Ragnarok Season 3 is set to be the show’s most intense and emotional installment, and with the stakes higher than ever, fans have every reason to get excited. The gods are furious. The warriors are ready. And humanity is standing on the edge of defeat.

Don’t miss the return of Record of Ragnarok, streaming only on Netflix. Keep your eyes opened for updates, because when this season drops, it’s going to be a fight worth watching.
