Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen left fans with shattered hearts and sky-high expectations. After the mind-blowing Shibuya Incident Arc, we saw Satoru Gojo, the fan-favorite sorcerer, trapped in the dreaded Prison Realm. With Season 3 on the horizon, there’s one big question everyone’s asking: will Gojo break out of the seal this season?

If you’re waiting for Gojo to return and save the day, here's everything you need to know, based only on confirmed information from the anime and manga so far. Buckle up, because this season is going to shake the world of Jujutsu Kaisen once again, but maybe not the way some fans are hoping.

Gojo's Fate After the Shibuya Incident

In Season 2, things took a dark turn fast. The Shibuya Incident was a brutal arc that changed everything. Gojo, known as the strongest sorcerer alive, was sealed away by Kenjaku using the Prison Realm. This wasn’t just a plot twist, it was a game-changer. Kenjaku knew that the only way to carry out his twisted plans was to remove Gojo from the picture. And he succeeded!

With Gojo out of action, curses began to rise and chaos unfolded. By the end of the season, Gojo was still trapped, and Kenjaku vanished with the sealed object, leaving the sorcerers with no way to bring Gojo back, at least, not yet.

Season 3 Begins Without Gojo

Here’s the tough news: Gojo won’t be making a grand return in Season 3. The upcoming season will mainly focus on two important arcs, the Itadori Extermination Arc and the Perfect Preparation Arc. These storylines pick up right after the Shibuya Incident and dive deep into what happens to the remaining sorcerers.

Yuji, heartbroken and filled with guilt over everything that happened in Shibuya, becomes the target of execution. Enter Yuta Okkotsu, who promises to kill Yuji, but his intentions are more complicated than they seem. The political chaos in the Jujutsu world also takes center stage as the Zenin Clan’s dark secrets come into light. Maki, another key character, goes through a major transformation after being pushed to the edge.

All this builds toward the massive Culling Game, the largest arc in the series. And unfortunately, throughout this whole season, Gojo remains sealed. At best, fans might catch a glimpse of him in flashbacks or opening sequences, but not in action.

Why Gojo's Absence Is a Big Deal?

Let’s face it! Gojo isn’t just strong, he’s iconic. From his blindfolded confidence to his jaw-dropping battles, Gojo quickly became the most beloved character in the series. He’s topped popularity polls again and again, even after being sealed.

So why leave him sealed for an entire season? There’s actually a good reason for it. According to the story’s creator, Gojo’s absence forces the rest of the cast to grow. Without him, characters like Yuji, Yuta, Maki, and others step up. They face terrifying new enemies and impossible situations, and grow stronger in the process.

If Gojo was around, things would be too easy. He’s powerful enough to crush most threats on his own, which would leave no room for the others to shine. So even though fans miss him, his absence adds serious depthto the story and the characters around him.

When Will Gojo Return?

For those wondering when Gojo finally gets unsealed, we already know the answer from the manga. Gojo is freed in Chapter 221, that’s a long way from where Season 2 left off. Since Season 3 will be covering the arcs leading up to the Culling Game and only beginning that arc itself, Gojo’s unsealing won’t happen until at least Season 4.

There is a chance that Gojo’s return could be hinted at the very end of Season 3, depending on how many episodes it includes. But unless the new season covers nearly 80 manga chapters, which is unlikely, don’t expect a full comeback just yet. Some fans even believe his legendary showdown with Sukuna might be turned into a movie instead of part of the regular anime.

What Makes Season 3 Still Worth Watching?

Even without Gojo, there’s no shortage of excitement in the upcoming season. Season 3 promises to be intense, emotional, and full of surprising twists.

We’ll see how Yuji handles the trauma from Shibuya and whether Yuta’s plan to save him actually works. Maki’s transformation will be a highlight for many fans, especially as she rises from the ashes of the Zenin Clan. New characters, new cursed techniques, and some jaw-dropping battles are all on the way.

And then comes the Culling Game. This isn’t your average tournament arc, it’s a deadly battle royale involving over 1,000 fighters. Kenjaku uses this chaos to push his true plan forward, and Sukuna has his own goals tied to Megumi. With ancient sorcerers being revived and wild new powers introduced, this arc will push everyone to their limits.

The Power of Gojo's Presence Even While Absent

What’s crazy is that Gojo’s impact is still felt throughout the story, even though he’s sealed. His influence on his students, the fear he puts in his enemies, and the hope he represents for the good guys - all of that still echoes through every scene. He’s not on-screen, but his presence shapes the entire narrative. And when he does return? It’s going to be one of the biggest anime moments in recent years.

So, will Gojo be unsealed in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3? Most likely not. But that doesn’t mean fans won’t have an unforgettable experience. This season is going to be darker, deeper, and more emotional than anything we’ve seen before. And when Gojo finally makes his comeback, it will be worth every second of the wait. Stay tuned! the best is still to come.
