If you've been keeping up with Rich Girl Caretaker (Saijo no Osewa), you already know why people can't stop talking about it. It's got the rich school setting, the secret caretaker gig, the slowly-realizing-she's-in-love heroine, basically all the tropes that shouldn't work as well as they do but somehow keep pulling viewers back week after week. And now that Season 1 is nearly done, everyone's asking the same question, is Season 2 actually happening?

Catching Up on Season 1 Before We Get into It

So, for anyone who wandered in late, the basic setup is this: Itsuki takes a caretaker job for Hinako without realizing what he's signing up for, and things spiral from there, kidnappings, judo throws, a maid who watches literally everything, you name it. Along the way he ends up tangled with other girls too, like the drill-haired Mirei who's way nicer than her intro episode suggests, and Narika, his old childhood friend who turns out to be surprisingly terrifying to everyone but him.

What's kept people invested isn't just the comedy though, it's that each girl actually has her own thing going on with Itsuki instead of just existing to compete for his attention. Saori Onishi, who voices Mirei Tennouji, put it well when she described the show's charm in an official interview:

"There's a story for every ojou-sama, and each one's relationship with Itsuki is drawn out properly, which is what makes it so appealing." - Saori Onishi, VA of Mirei

And Hinako's slow realization that what she feels for him isn't just "I like having him around" but something more romantic has genuinely landed with a lot of viewers. That last-episode blush moment got people talking for days.

One Episode Left, Here's When It's Dropping

Before anyone gets ahead of themselves with Season 2 talk, there's still the matter of finishing season one. Just one episode left to go.

  1. Episode 12 - Saturday, September 19, 2026

That's it, that's the last one, airing on Crunchyroll like the rest of the season has.

So, What's Probably Happening in That Last Episode

Episode 11 left things on the tennis match fallout, with Hinako's little jealousy games and Narika's win still fresh, so the finale's probably going to try wrapping some of that up rather than starting anything huge. The sports festival that's been teased for a while now seems like the obvious candidate to finally show up, and there's a good chance we finally get that outing between Itsuki and Narika that Hinako keeps vetoing.

Honestly though, given how the show has been steadily building Hinako back into the spotlight, don't be shocked if the finale ends on another moment between her and Itsuki instead. That would track with the pattern so far. If you need a refresher on how we even got here, the Season 1 official trailer is worth a rewatch, you can check it out down below before the finale drops.

Realistically, When Could Season 2 Show Up

Nothing's been confirmed yet, no announcement, no teaser, nothing official. But going off how these light novel adaptations usually work, and using season one's July 2026 premiere as a baseline, a reasonable guess would put Season 2 sometime in late 2027 or early 2028, assuming the Blu-ray sales and streaming numbers hold up (and right now, they seem to be doing just fine).

What Season 2 Could Actually Cover

There are 12 volumes of the source material out already, and Season 1 is really only scratching the surface, maybe the first three volumes. So, there's no shortage of material. Based on the pacing so far, a second season would probably tackle:

  1. Finishing up Narika's arc, including that outing she keeps almost getting, and hopefully a bit more confidence for her socially
  2. More of Hinako's dad and the pressure he's putting on the family business, along with whether he starts softening his stance on Itsuki
  3. New characters the light novels introduce down the line, possibly expanding the rivalry or adding fresh dynamics to the group
  4. Itsuki and Hinako's relationship actually moving forward now that she knows how she feels, which could mean more heartfelt, less one-sided moments between them

What Fans Are Saying About a Potential Season 2

People seem genuinely into this one, more than a lot of similar shows get. A common thing people bring up is how each heroine gets an actual distinct relationship with Itsuki instead of all blending into one generic "harem girl" blob, which a lot of these shows fumble. Itsuki himself gets credit too, people keep saying he's not just some bland self-insert, he actually carries scenes on his own. Rio Tsuchiya, the voice actress behind Narika, shared in an official cast interview that what drew her to the show was,

"Even though the world of the wealthy isn't close to my own life, there are parts I can genuinely relate to, and I find myself rooting for everyone." - Rio Tsuchiya, VA of Narika

There's also a lot of rooting for Hinako specifically, now that her feelings are out in the open, fans want to see her actually act on them instead of just being possessive from the sidelines. If the finale sticks the landing, a Season 2 announcement wouldn't be surprising at all.

While you're waiting on news, it might be worth checking out what we've written on a couple other shows in similar limbo, like The Ogre's Bride Season 2 and Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 3, both of which fans are hoping get picked back up soon too.
